Cliff Brown and Nick Counts originally came together to form Counts & Brown Logging. Established in 1973. In 1986, Cliff bought Nick out and started Cliff Brown Logging. In the early 1990's, Cliff Brown went into business with his oldest son, Clay Brown, to form Phoenix Hydraulics & Machine Co. Clay Brown was a highly intelligent man who could find a solution to any problem, and used his knowledge and skills to transition the business from logging to hydraulics. Clay got his start in hydraulics as a young man working with Jim Walker, who owned Canyon Hydraulics at the time.

Jack Brown, Cyndal Brown, and Cole Brown are the current owners of this 50-year-old locally owned business. Through their dedicated efforts, they carry on Clay's legacy, as well as attribute the success of the business to several long-time employees such as Charles Brown and Travis Richardson, who have been indispensable to the business, and whose work does not go unnoticed. 

The objective of Phoenix Hydraulics & Machine Co. is to continue as a family owned and operated business, with the involvement of up-and-coming young family members, and the support of longtime dedicated employees and customers.
